As much as I would love to, I generally don’t have an hour (or two!) to photograph couples on wedding day. This is one of the million reasons that I love engagement sessions, because that’s exactly what I get to do. We stop watching the clock, and just play.

Kristin + Nate are getting married this Summer at the Hotel Del Coronado, and not only will the wedding be beautifully planned and designed by Emily Smiley Fine Weddings & Soirees, but my team was lucky enough to have Emily style our session. :) So fun to try something different, and warm up our couple for the big day. {Please see full credits, below}

I am definitely adding The Crosby Club to my list of favorite wedding venues in San Diego. What a perfect location for Melanie + Julian’s dreamy “Under the Stars” theme, designed by the talented, Liz Beck Events. I had photographed this beautiful couple’s engagement session, so I already knew I loved them, but sharing their wedding day showed me that I’m just one of many. What a warm and fun group of friends and family – jam packed on the dance floor, with lots of hugging and laughing into the night. Congratulations to a wonderful couple, with a full and happy future ahead of them. xo {Full credits/links to our fabulous vendors, below}

Congratulations to Amanda + Emmett! Married at the cozy Lodge at Torrey Pines, on a cold and rainy December day, Amanda + Emmett reminded us what weddings are all about. They could have easily been upset by the weather, as their ceremony was moved from outside to inside, and their portraits were taken in bursts between rainfall – but they never flinched. Amanda even wanted to go out on her balcony, and look over the golf course. I think I remember her saying it was beautiful – and it was. Her grace under pressure was just as beautiful, and right in sync with her groom who is a perfect gentleman. I always leave a wedding feeling good, and this was one of those times when I also felt thankful for knowing such good people. xo

{Beautiful planning by Liz Beck Events (also good people), and a big thank you to The Lodge for being wonderful hosts. Full credits, below. P.S. The last Lodge image was not Photoshopped. It’s just that cool looking!}

I would love to think that every couple out there is a perfect match for me… Truth is, I have an ideal couple. I know – so rude, right? How can a free thinking “artist” ever possibly discriminate, by stating that there’s one IDEAL couple? … Well, it’s true and, fortunately, these couples find me time after time. My ideal couple is REAL. My ideal couple shows up with team spirit, and trusts the process. They aren’t connected to each other by similar looks, careers, wedding theme, budget, or even their comfort on camera. Yet, despite these differences, they share something in common. They are either pre-prepared, or decide once they meet me, to believe, “This is our SPECIAL time together. Pam looks harmless and, better yet, I think she wants us to feel AWESOME about ourselves. Let’s ENJOY this!” … Some couples bring this spirit to a session in soft and subtle ways, and some couples go bold out of the gate (yes, Robin + Adam were singing to each other), but I know when it’s genuine, and it’s magical every single time. xo
