I would love to be a part of more weddings at The Santaluz Club. What a great spot to feel a million miles away, while in our own back yard – and the perfect space for Annie + Nim’s celebration of friends, family and LOVE. Crown Weddings showcased this Spanish-style, hillside venue beautifully. Great food, a whiskey tasting bar, live entertainment and vibrant colors all around. The warmth and energy of the event made wonderful memories for a wonderful couple, who soaked it all in, and danced the night away. Congratulations to Annie + Nim! xo [Please see full credits below for our wonderful vendors]pam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin Imagepam scott photo santaluz club weddingPin ImagePhotography: Pam Scott Planning + Event Design: Crown Weddings (Susanne Duffy) Venue: The Santaluz Club (Elizabeth) Florals: Jennifer Cole Florals Cocktail Entertainment: Anthony Garcia ~ Flamenco Rentals: Concepts Event Design Reception Entertainment: N’Demand Band  Cake: VG Donut & Bakery

High School Sweethearts and the Hotel Del Coronado. It’s just about as Fairy Tale as it gets – with one of the most magical moments being their “First Visit” before the ceremony. To witness it, is to love it. :)

Thank you to the talented Emily Smiley Fine Weddings & Soirees for her vision, design and planning, and Platinum Pro for their beautiful florals and dance floor. All the amazing vendors can be found at the links, below. xo

It was all smiles and fairy tale magic at the Hotel Del Coronado, for Kristin + Nate’s beach wedding. I’m going to let their amazing wedding designer and planner, Emily Smiley, share all the details on her blog – and just jump right in to EYE CANDY on mine. :) Here are some favorites from the day, leading up to their after party – which I will blog separately. Enjoy! xoxo

Love sharing these vibrant and romantic portraits from a recent Del Mar Beach Engagement! Flavia + Mark have sentimental ties to Del Mar, and knew they wanted to be photographed at both The Del Mar Surf Station, and the beach where Mark proposed. Would you believe we took these photos in two locations, with two separate outfits, in just one hour? It’s a team effort! :)

We started at the station, because we wanted to end on the beach for sunset… Flavia’s burnt orange dress totally popped against the big blue sky, and Mark looked so sharp. The camera loves tailoring. :) I so enjoyed hanging out together, and getting lucky with a train passing – just before we left.

Quick stop at their apartment, and Flavia changed into a blue dress. WOW!! The flow and color of a dress like that totally set the mood for the beach portion of our session. As we walked from their place to the sand, I couldn’t resist shooting from behind, with the breeze blowing through the sheer layers, and sun lighting it up. These are the parts of a session I can’t plan for, but usually produce my favorite images from the day. Spontaneous inspiration. :)

Color is only one part of what made these portraits extra special, though… Flavia + Mark are so easy to be around, and you can feel the love and respect they have for each other. Every portrait is painted with the sweetness that’s between them, and I can only imagine how beautiful their wedding day will be. Keep an eye out for another blog post, this Fall, after their Estancia La Jolla wedding – planned by the visionary Emily Smiley. xo

Cheers to Flavia + Mark, to love, and to living in color! xo

Posting this session brings up some memories for me… This “boy” in the portraits was just 15 when I first photographed him. His parents and I were working on cool projects in my house, and his Mom spotted my not-yet-mailed Christmas cards on the table. The cover of the card was a photo of my then-2 year old, posing proudly in his new ride-along truck… Mom loved the photo and asked if I would photograph her kids. I thought, let’s see… I’m not a professional photographer, I’m still learning my camera, and I have never directed anyone in a photo that I didn’t already know… That’s really scary, I thought, so I told her, “Of course!”

So I take the photos, and I’m a total pro… or not…

I cut their chins out of the frame, because I thought that was very avant garde of me, faced them into the sun (that’s how eyes sparkle, right?), and did all sorts of nervous poses with them. The stars aligned for me, though, and gave us one solid photo – the one Mom still has framed at home.

Just months later, I used that little bit of confidence to throw myself into photography, and applied for a business license. That was it. I literally left my Christmas cards on the kitchen table, then tripped into my life’s work.

Fast forward 10+ years… the boy is a man, and he’s getting MARRIED. :) He found the sweetest girl, they’re crazy in love, and I was lucky enough to photograph them (and puppy, Gatsby!) for this engagement session.

A big Thank You to Alyssa + Danny for trusting me to capture your special memories, and to Mom for first trusting me with yours, all those years ago. xo
